The Chicago Bulls will be without Alex Caruso going forward, as he suffered a major injury from the Milwaukee Bucks’ Grayson Allen’s flagrant foul on Friday night.

Alex Caruso will be sidelined for the Chicago Bulls for the foreseeable future, thanks to another dirty play from the Milwaukee Bucks‘ Grayson Allen.

Allen graduated from his tripping days at Duke to going full-blown Bill Laimbeer up in the air on Central Division opponents. Caruso suffered a broken right wrist that will likely need surgery after Allen’s egregious flagrant foul on Friday night. Milwaukee won the game 94-90, but the Bulls remain one game ahead of them in the divisional standings.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said a decision on Caruso having wrist surgery has not been finalized, but it is still very likely to happen.

Alex Caruso to miss ample time after injury sustained from Grayson Allen foul

Chicago is in the midst of his best season since the peak Derrick Rose/Tom Thibodeau days. At times, the Bulls have found themselves atop the Eastern Conference standings. This is due in large part to adding players like Lonzo Ball and DeMar DeRozan in free agency to play alongside Zach LaVine. Of course, head coach Billy Donovan deserves a ton of credit for such a quick turnaround.

However, the upper crust of the Eastern Conference is very strong. Milwaukee is the defending NBA champions for a reason. The Brooklyn Nets are menacing over in the Atlantic Division. Chicago has to find a way to hold steady without a key contributor to its backcourt for the time being. There really is no way for anyone to defend Allen after this, not even the Cameron Crazies.

Hopefully, Caruso can make a speedy recovery and return in time for a Bulls postseason push.
